What this means on these models
On the Comfee CERS platform, water on the floor points at the drain path before anything else and plumbing only after that. Nothing in that path is pressurised — it works on gravity, which means an unlevel cabinet is enough to send water the wrong way. Water inside the cabinet and water on the floor behind it have different causes, so note which you have before you start.
What you actually observe
- A frozen puddle inside the cabinet — Ice in the base is the frozen version of a blocked drain, seen at a colder setting.
- Water comes in bursts — Time the puddles against the machine rather than against your day — the rhythm names the source.
- Water on the floor at the back — Water at the back is a different half of this page and should be traced with the unit pulled out.
- A puddle on the floor at the front — Open the door and look at the base of the compartment — the answer is usually inside.
- NEAR MISS — water around the ice maker — If the floor is dry, nothing is leaving the cabinet.
Causes, most likely first on the CERS line
- Cabinet tilted forward — Placed here because it is quick, reversible and it changes the symptom immediately.
- Melt water with nowhere to go — It ranks top because the failure is inevitable on an unserviced cabinet — a year of food film closes a hole this size.
- The pan under the cabinet split or knocked out of place — Mid-list: the tray is brittle after years over a warm compressor, and a cabinet that has been moved often arrives with it displaced.
- Warm room air reaching the cold plate — It ranks high on this family because the cabinets are placed in garages and basements, and every gram of incoming moisture becomes condensate.
The order to work in
- Put a level across the front and along the side — Rock each corner — a cabinet that moves is not level.
- Start at the drain at the back of the compartment — Do not force anything down it: the tube behind is thin.
- Inspect the tray for cracks or displacement — Look for a crack, a tilt, or a tray sitting off its rails rather than just for water.
- Check whether the door closes on its seal everywhere — Test all four sides: failure is local and the hinge side is usually the one missed.
Before you open anything
Safety
A cabinet with water under it can slip, so clear and dry before pulling it out. Once a line has been disturbed, watch it for a day before pushing the cabinet back. Treat the water damage as the first problem and the leak as the second.
