The short answer
A leak is worth chasing promptly on a Candor refrigerator: a slow one damages flooring and cabinets long before it damages the appliance. That puts a blocked or frozen defrost drain at the top of the list here and a door seal letting humid air in at the bottom.
What owners actually report
- Water appears only after the door has been open a while — Humid room air condensing on cold surfaces rather than a leak.
- A puddle that returns within a day of being mopped — A steady source rather than a one-off spill.
- Water at the front edge under the door — Typically an overflowing drain pan path or a door that is not sealing.
- NEAR MISS — water in the drip tray underneath — That tray exists to hold defrost water and evaporate it. Water in it is the system working.
What causes this, in order of likelihood here
- A blocked or frozen defrost drain — The most common leak on any refrigerator. Drainage is where water that the machine made on purpose goes wrong, so it leads whenever water is the complaint.
- Humidity beyond what the cabinet can manage — In a humid garage or an unconditioned room, condensation appears on and in a perfectly healthy unit. These are installed in back rooms, shops and garages where the air is warmer and dirtier than the rating assumed.
- An unusually humid room — Garages and unconditioned rooms put far more water through the evaporator than the drain was designed to carry. The surroundings are part of the machine: rate it against warmer air and the same hardware behaves like a failing unit.
- A door seal letting humid air in — Warm air meeting cold surfaces condenses. A cabinet that sweats internally is often reporting a gasket fault as a leak.
The order of checks
- Establish exactly where the water first appears — Inside, at the front, or behind.
- Empty the bottom drawers and look at the cabinet floor — Standing water under the crispers is a drain answer, found in a minute with nothing but a torch.
- Look at the freezer floor for a flat sheet of ice — That is the frozen version of the same blockage, and it tells you to thaw rather than to poke.
The owner-side procedure
- Thaw a frozen drain rather than forcing it — Empty the freezer, switch the unit off and leave the doors open until the ice is gone.
Tools: towels
- Close the supply valve if the water is behind the unit — Shutting the supply stops a plumbing leak immediately and tells you which side of the machine the water came from.
- STOP before removing the rear panel to reach the drain trough — A drain heater or a trough behind the evaporator means a panel and live terminals. That is a technician job.
The safety line
Safety
Dry the floor before plugging anything back in, and keep power leads and extension blocks out of any puddle. Unplug the cabinet before pulling it out over a wet floor; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
When this stops being a home repair
Flushing the drain is the owner repair. A cracked liner, a failed pan or a supply-line fitting is a technician job, and a water line under pressure is one to shut off first.

Generalized information — and what is missing from it
Generalized information: this describes the refrigerator class, not your serial number. Anything tied to a chassis — pinouts, part numbers, diagnostic key sequences — is absent by design. A family- or model-level page, where one exists, is linked below and takes precedence. The brand overview page linked below covers the other problems on this machine.
