Controls fail loudly and sensors fail quietly. Safety
Unplug the unit before any panel or control housing is opened — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not silence a temperature alarm and walk away: the alarm is usually right, and the food is the thing at risk.
The line between a fix and a service call
A cabinet that is both complaining and warm is a food-safety problem before it is a repair problem: move the food, then call. A cabinet that is complaining and cold can wait for a scheduled visit.
