The short answer for these models
When the tub stays full, the question is whether the pump is failing or whether it is being defeated. A blocked filter, a crushed hose or a hose end at the wrong height defeat a perfectly healthy pump, and the machine cannot tell you which. What changes on the BCW models is the sequence rather than the diagnosis. A tap-adapter installation gives up its pressure and its drain height the moment the adapter slips, so a fault that looks electrical on a plumbed machine is usually mechanical on a portable one, which is why the supply and adapter checks belong at the top of the list here.
What you observe
- Which form your BCW unit is — settle this first — Look at how the hoses connect. A tap adapter adds two failure points outside the machine; fixed wall valves keep them where you can see them.
- It drains very slowly, or only partly — It empties, but slowly and never completely, which is a narrowed path rather than a closed one.
- Water comes back into the tub after it empties — Siphoning. The hose end is too low, or pushed too far into the standpipe, and the drain is feeding the machine.
- NEAR MISS — water on the floor rather than in the tub — That is a leak, not a drainage failure, and the page about water where it should not be covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- An object caught between the tub and the drum — A coin or an underwire that has escaped the drum can sit in the outlet and pass water slowly while blocking a full pump-out. The ranking moves here for a reason particular to these models: how the unit is built changes what this finding means. That is what puts the supply and adapter checks ahead of everything else on the list.
- The drain pump or its control — Last because a genuinely dead pump is far rarer than a defeated one, and because it is the only cause here that needs a panel off.
What to check first, and why that order
- First — look at the hose before you open anything — Follow it from the machine to wherever it ends. A kink behind the machine or a hose pushed to the bottom of a standpipe explains most of these. On these models this is the step the construction changes: the answer only tells you something once you know which form the unit is.
- Second — open the drain filter over a shallow tray — This is the check that solves the fault more often than every other check combined.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Assume the filter housing is full before you open it: towels down, a shallow tray under it, and a cooled machine if the last wash was hot. Water hot enough to scald leaves a filter at the same speed as cold water and gives no warning.
Where the owner job ends
The line is the filter door. Everything you can reach through it is yours; anything behind a screwed panel is a visit. Mention whether the pump makes any noise at all during the drain step, because a silent pump and a loud one point at different parts.
