The short answer
A Beko WMY that shows a time on its display but does nothing is very often paused rather than broken. Opening the door mid-cycle, pressing the start button a second time, or knocking the controls while loading all put the machine into a hold where it keeps its place, keeps its display, and waits indefinitely for someone to press start again.
What you observe
- A time is displayed but nothing happens — The machine is paused and waiting for the start control.
- It carries on normally when start is pressed — Confirms the pause rather than a fault.
- The panel is dark and nothing responds — Supply: the plug, the receptacle or the breaker.
- Pressing start does nothing on a fresh programme — The door is not confirming, or a lock is set.

Check in this order, and why
- Press the start control once and watch — First. A paused machine simply resumes, and nothing else needs doing.
- Note whether the panel lights at all — Second, because it splits the fault into supply and permission.
- Close the door firmly and listen for the interlock — Third. A front-loader will not run until the door is confirmed.
- Cancel and start a plain cycle from scratch — Fourth. It clears a delay start and an unconfirmed selection together.
Before you open anything

Unplug the machine before removing any panel, and close both taps before disturbing a hose. Never defeat a door interlock to make the machine run - it is what stops the door opening on a drum full of water. The machine is heavy; get help rather than levering it out on a corner.

When to call a technician
Call once the machine is not paused, the door latches firmly, no lock or delay is set and the receptacle is live, because what remains is an interlock, a start control or a board. Call immediately if the machine trips its breaker when you press start.
