A Beko BFTF cabinet that has stopped making ice, or that makes hollow and undersized cubes, is reporting restricted flow far more often than a dead module. The fill tube freezing is the single most common cause on this platform and it is cleared without any part.
The observations that matter
- A slab of ice sits in the mould — For every model in this family, the mould has overfilled or a harvest has failed part way, and the slab then prevents every subsequent cycle.
- The shut-off arm is resting in the up position — The maker reads a full bin and stops. A bag of frozen food leaning on the arm does exactly the same thing.
- Cubes taste stale or smell of the freezer — Old ice that has been sitting and sublimating rather than a production fault, common when a household uses little ice. It does not vary across the models listed on this page.
- Water runs into the freezer instead of the mould — A fill tube that is misaligned or partly frozen sprays past the mould, and the resulting ice build is visible at the back of the compartment.
- Production stopped after the cabinet was moved — The supply line behind the cabinet is the first thing pinched when an appliance is pushed back into place.
- NEAR MISS: water is pooling on the freezer floor — That is a drain or fill overflow question, and the water-leak page for this family is the better starting point.
The causes in likelihood order
- A frozen fill tube — First on the BFTF line because the tube delivers water into a compartment held below freezing, so any slow fill or dribble freezes in place and blocks every later cycle. It is also the cause that clears with no part at all. This applies to the whole line rather than to one model.
- The shut-off arm held up — Second because it is free to check and because a package leaning against the arm produces a maker that appears completely dead while being in perfect order. The same is true of each model covered here.
- A closed or restricted supply tap — The line is usually teed off a cold supply under a sink, where it is easily closed during other work and rarely reopened. The maker then cycles dry and eventually stops.
- A kinked supply line behind the cabinet — The line runs behind the appliance where pushing the cabinet back pinches it. Production falls off gradually as flow drops, which is why cube size shrinks before production stops.
- A failed mould heater or thermostat in the maker — Last because it needs the module out to confirm and because a slab of ice in the mould has the same appearance whatever caused it. The distinguishing evidence is whether cycles resume after the slab is cleared.
The order to work in
- Check the shut-off arm is down and nothing is leaning on it — First on the BFTF line because it costs nothing and because a package against the arm is the single most common reason a maker appears dead. The models in the table behave the same way here.
- Look for a slab or a plug of ice in the mould — Second: clearing it by hand restores cycling immediately and tells you whether the fault recurs, which is the real diagnostic.
- Find the supply tap and confirm it is fully open — Third, because it is usually under a sink and is closed during unrelated plumbing work more often than anyone expects. That is true of every model this family spans.
Before you open anything
Safety
Power the appliance down and close the water tap before starting. If the supply line has been wet against the cabinet or the socket behind it is damp, leave the circuit isolated and treat it as an electrical matter rather than a plumbing one.

The service boundary
Stop and call if the supply line is weeping at a joint behind the cabinet, or if water has reached the socket or the floor void. Those are the cases where continuing to run makes the damage larger than the repair. That holds across every model this page covers.
