The short answer
Only a few codes in the Beko BFFD table carry the IM suffix that marks an ice-maker build, so the first step on this family is reading yours: most BFFD cabinets have no ice maker and no water connection at all. On the IM codes the leading fault is a fill tube frozen shut; on the rest, an ice complaint is frost, and on a French-door cabinet frost starts at the centre seal.
What you observe
- Frost along the inner vertical edges of the upper doors — The mullion is not sealing at the centre - the platform-specific frost pattern.
- A column of ice beneath the ice maker fill point — Only on the IM codes: a frozen fill tube overflowing each fill.
- Hollow or undersized cubes — Water arriving too slowly - supply pressure or a partly closed shut-off.
- A sheet of frost on the freezer rear panel — Humid air entering at the freezer drawer face rather than at the doors.
- NEAR MISS - cubes fused into a solid block — A temperature problem; the cooling page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Mullion not sealing at the centre — First on this platform, because it is the only moving part of the seal and it admits air continuously when it fails.
- Frozen fill tube on the IM codes — Second, and the leading ice-maker fault wherever an ice maker is fitted in a freezer drawer.
- Slow or restricted water supply — Third, and the reason the fill tube froze at all.
- Freezer drawer not sealing — Fourth, and the source of frost on the freezer side specifically.
- Stalled defrost cycle — Last, and the explanation when frost returns within weeks of a clearance.
Check in this order, and why
- Note where the frost is before anything else — Centre-edge frost is the mullion; rear-panel frost is the drawer; a column under a fill point is the ice maker.
- Close each upper door slowly and watch the mullion fold — Second, because it confirms or clears the leading cause by eye.
- Read your code for the IM suffix — Third. Most codes in this family have no ice maker at all.
- On an IM code, check the supply shut-off is fully open — Fourth. A partly closed valve gives hollow cubes first and a frozen tube later.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Shut the water supply off before disturbing a fill line. Never thaw a fill tube with a heat gun, and never chip frost off a liner or an evaporator with a metal tool.
