The short answer
When a Beko BFFD refrigerator goes warm in the fresh-food compartment, check the centre of the two doors before anything else. On a French-door cabinet the mullion between them carries part of the seal, and a mullion that has not folded back into place leaves a gap up the middle of the cabinet that no amount of gasket inspection will find.
What you observe
- Condensation or frost along the inner vertical edges of the doors — The signature of a mullion that is not sealing at the centre.
- Fresh-food compartment warm, freezer perfectly cold — Either the mullion, or the duct and the fan feeding the upper compartment.
- Both compartments warming at a similar rate — The condenser, the defrost system or the sealed system.
- A sheet of frost behind the freezer drawer rear panel — A stalled defrost cycle; the ice is now blocking the coil.
- NEAR MISS - silent and warming — Nothing is running at all, which is a supply or start-relay fault.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Mullion not folding back into its sealed position — First on this platform, and the cause a brand-generic article has no reason to mention at all.
- Frost blocking the duct between compartments — Second. Everything the fridge receives passes through one path from the drawer below.
- Evaporator fan not running — Third, and identical at the shelf to the cause above it.
- Condenser starved of air — Fourth, and the leading cause when both compartments warm together.
- Stalled defrost or sealed-system fault — Last. Both need instruments, and both are less common than the four above.
Check in this order, and why
- Close each door slowly and watch the mullion fold — First, because it is the platform-specific cause and it is visible from outside.
- Look for condensation along the inner door edges — Second. It confirms a centre leak even when the mullion looks like it closed.
- Read both compartment temperatures — Third, because one warm or both warm routes the rest of the diagnosis.
- Hold the drawer switch and check for air at the fridge vent — Fourth. No airflow with a cold freezer explains a warm fridge completely.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never chip ice out of the duct or off the evaporator with a metal tool - the tubing is soft aluminium and a puncture ends the cabinet. Keep fingers clear of the mullion pivot while a door closes.

When to call a technician
Call once the mullion seals, air moves at the vent and a manual defrost has restored cooling only for the ice to return. Call immediately if you see oil at the compressor or smell burning - oil outside the tubing means the system is open.
