In short, on MAS models
Water under an Avanti MAS washer usually comes from a connection rather than from the machine itself. Inlet hoses, the drain hose, the filter cap and the door seal account for most leaks, and all four are reachable without opening the cabinet. Find the highest wet point first.
What owners describe
- A slow weep from the bottom front hatch — Within the MAS family, the filter cap is not sealing, usually because it is cross-threaded or its seal is damaged.
- Soapy water at the front during the wash — On an MAS model, front-of-machine suds point at the door or the dispenser rather than at a hose.
- Suds coming out of the dispenser or the door — For MAS models, excess foam is a dosing problem and it mimics a serious leak convincingly.
- Water tracking along the floor from behind the machine — Where MAS models are concerned, look for the source above the wet trail — water runs, so the highest damp point is nearest the fault.
- Water only during the spin — On MAS models, timing the leak to a stage of the cycle is the single most useful observation here.
- NEAR MISS — water stays in the drum instead of leaking — That is a drainage fault, and the drainage-failure page for your model line is the right place.
Ranked causes on the MAS line
- An inlet hose or tap connection weeping — It leads because a supply leak is both the most common and the most damaging — it runs whether the machine is on or not.
- A filter cap that is not sealing — Very common straight after a filter clean: cross-threaded, or the sealing ring left twisted. That is the position it takes on this family.
- A door seal holding debris or torn at the fold — It sits here because the symptom is unmistakable — soapy water at the front, only while washing.
- A split sump, bellows or internal hose — Last: an internal leak means the cabinet has to come apart, and it is far rarer than the connections outside it. It is ranked the same way on every MAS model.
What to look at first, second, third
- Turn the taps off and see whether the water stops — Where MAS models are concerned, it separates a supply leak from a wash leak in minutes and it protects the room while you think.
- Run a short cycle and watch each stage — On MAS models in particular, stay with the machine for the whole cycle and note the minute the water arrives.
- Run a finger round the door seal channel — Debris in the fold holds the seal open under load, and it is the commonest front leak of all.
- Close both supply taps and see whether the water stops — On MAS models, it separates a supply leak from a wash leak and protects the floor while you work.

Isolate the machine and close both taps before you touch any fitting; a capacitor can stay charged after the power is off. Never chase a leak with the machine running and panels off. Dry hands, dry floor, and leave every door and lid proof circuit exactly as the maker built it.

Where the owner line falls
Call once the taps and their connections are dry, the door seal is clean and sound, the dosing is right, the machine is level and not overloaded — and water still appears. What is left is a tub seal, a bearing seal or the outer drum, and all of those mean the machine comes apart.
