The short answer for WCF models
On an Avanti WCF refrigerator the first question about a leak is whether the water is cold and clean or not, and the second is whether it appears inside the cabinet or on the floor. Those two answers separate a blocked defrost drain from a fill-line fault, and they are the difference between a free fix and a plumber.
What you notice first
- A clean, clear puddle that returns within hours — On a WCF model, if it comes back quickly and is perfectly clean, isolate the water supply before anything else.
- Water on the floor at the back of the machine — Where WCF models are concerned, the evaporating pan has overflowed, cracked, or the drain tube has come out of it.
- Ice building up under the bottom drawer or on the freezer floor — On the WCF line, melt water freezing where it stands is a drain that blocks and then freezes shut.
- A thin trickle down the inside of the back wall — On the WCF line, follow the water upward: the top of the trail is nearest the cause.
- Water inside, under the crisper drawers — Across the WCF line, water inside the cabinet is the earliest form of this fault and the easiest to fix.

Likely causes for WCF models, most common first
- A blocked defrost drain — It leads because every cabinet makes defrost water daily, so the drain is the one part of the water path that is always working.
- A leaking ice-maker or dispenser fill line — Mid-list because it is less common than condensate, but it is the one cause that can flood a room, so it is checked early. The same order applies across the WCF family.
- A drain that freezes shut because the defrost system is failing — If the drain keeps refreezing after you clear it, the fault is upstream in the defrost circuit rather than in the drain.
- A perished or disconnected drain tube — It comes here because you have to get behind and under the machine to see it, which is past most owners. Nothing in the WCF line changes that order.

- Find the highest point the water reaches — Where WCF models are concerned, dry everything, put kitchen paper at likely points and come back: the first sheet to wet tells you where to look.
- Run the paper test round the door seal — A section that slides free is letting humid air in, and that water condenses at the front edge.
- Put kitchen paper down and find the highest wet point — On this family, water runs downhill, so the top of the trail is closest to the source.
- Clear the drain channel at the back of the cabinet — Where WCF models are concerned, warm water and patience; never a metal tool, which splits the liner.

Where the owner line falls
Hand it over once the drain flows, the pan is right, the machine is level and the seal passes the paper test, and water still appears. At that point you are looking at tubing inside the cabinet wall or at the defrost circuit, neither of which is reachable without a teardown. Switch the machine off at the wall if the leak is fast.
