What is happening, in three sentences
The AVFF family answers this complaint in a particular order because of how the cabinet is built: the condenser is reachable, the door seal is visible, and the evaporator is behind a panel. So the checks that cost nothing come first, and the ones that need the machine opened come last. Nothing below asks you to touch the sealed system.
How the fault presents
- The compressor runs and never cycles off — A unit that cannot reach its set point never gets the signal to stop, so it runs continuously and the same fault is visible from the other side.
- The cabinet is warm but the unit is clearly running — You can hear the compressor and feel warmth at the back, and the air inside is still not cold.
- It stopped cooling within a day or two of being moved — Clearance, level and a knocked control account for most faults that appear on that timescale.
- NEAR MISS — only the ice is soft and everything else is fine — A freezer section that is merely too warm while the fridge section is right is a control or damper question, not a cooling failure.
Causes in likelihood order on this model group
- Condenser coil choked, or no clearance around the cabinet — Heat leaves the refrigerant at the condenser, and a coil packed with dust or a cabinet pushed tight into a recess cannot do it. It heads the list because the twelve codes under this stem share it — nothing in the model table separates one code from another on this point.
- Door seal not sealing, or the door not pulling itself shut — A gasket that has taken a set, a door that has dropped on its hinge, or a shelf holding the door open by a fraction all let room air in faster than the machine can take heat out. Ranked second because it explains the cases the first cause does not, and because on this family the two are checked from the same side of the cabinet.
- Evaporator iced over, so the air path is blocked — Frost belongs on the evaporator; a solid sheet across it does not. Ranked third here, because the two causes above it are both quicker to settle and more often the answer on a cabinet of this size.
Work through it in this order
- The order for this model group — It is set by access rather than by likelihood alone: on AVFF the first checks are the ones the cabinet lets you make from where it stands.
- Look at the condenser and at the clearance around the cabinet — Dust on the coil and a tight recess produce the same result, and both are visible without a tool.
- Close the door on a strip of paper and pull — Do it at four points around the frame. A strip that slides out without resistance is the leak.
- Look for a frost sheet on the freezer rear wall — A solid layer rather than a dusting confirms the airflow cause before anything is dismantled.
Safety before diagnosis
Safety
Switch the breaker off or unplug the unit before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Anything you do behind the freezer rear panel happens next to a fan blade that the door switch is there to stop, so leave that switch alone.

The line between a fix and a service call
Call once the owner-side checks above are clean and the cabinet is still wrong. Call without finishing the list if the fault is on the sealed system — if you can see oil at the compressor or at a tubing joint, or you smell burning — because oil outside the tubing means the system is open, and every hour the unit runs after that costs more to put right.
