The short answer
On the AWBC family this is far more often a heat-rejection or an air-path problem than a dead compressor, and the glass-door beverage centre construction is why. A glass door and constant opening put the door and the room ahead of every mechanical cause here.
What you observe on these models
- The top shelf is cold and the bottom shelf is not, or the reverse — A difference between shelves is circulation; a uniform warm reading is not.
- The cabinet cools overnight and gives up during the day — Classic of an outdoor or unconditioned installation: the machine wins when the room is cool and loses when it is not.
- One shelf is noticeably colder than another — Uneven temperature is an airflow story; uniform warmth is not.
- The problem began after the cabinet was moved or restocked — A history like that points at placement, levelling or loading before anything internal.
- NEAR MISS — the cabinet is silent and nothing is cold — That is a no-power, cold-control or start-relay fault and it belongs on a different page.
Causes, most likely first on the AWBC family
- Door seal, door use and what is on the other side of the glass — First on this platform: a glass door is the weakest part of the cabinet thermally, and a beverage centre is opened many times an evening.
- Ambient temperature and ventilation at the grille — Second: these cabinets are built into bars and islands where the exhaust has nowhere to go.
- The cabinet has been overfilled — Third: a box pushed against the back wall or a shelf packed solid stops air moving past the cold surface, and the cabinet then cools its packaging instead of its contents.
- Where the cabinet is standing — Fourth: beside an oven, against a radiator, in a sunlit corner or in an unventilated cupboard, the machine is fighting a load it was never specified for.
- The set point moved without anyone noticing — Last: controls get knocked while loading and touch panels get pressed while cleaning.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Check the set point and, on a two-zone number, which zone you are setting — It is the single most common reason a beverage centre reads warm, and it takes one press to rule out.
- Look at the door seal and at what is holding the door open — Run a sheet of paper round the seal, then look for a bottle or rack standing proud of the door line.
- Empty one shelf and leave a clear gap at the back wall — It costs nothing and it separates an overfilled cabinet from a failing one within a day.
- Move anything standing against or on top of the cabinet — Heat rejected into a closed space comes straight back in.
- Write down the set point before you change it — It is the only way to tell later whether the control was the fault or the fix.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. On this platform there is no check worth doing that cannot wait the thirty seconds it takes to isolate the machine properly.

When to call a technician
The line on a glass-door beverage centre is the rear panel and the sealed system. On these models the line falls at anything behind a panel and anything on the sealed system. Call without working through anything at all for frost or ice returning within days of being cleared, together with a cabinet that will not hold.
