The honest summary

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Before opening the pump filter, be certain the drum is not full: use the small drain hose behind the filter flap first and catch the water in a shallow tray. A standard household branch circuit is 15 A or 20 A. The door interlock must be left intact, because it is what prevents a drum full of water being opened while it turns.
The line for a service call
Call when a never-started machine has an open tap, a live outlet, no lock set and still gives no interlock clunk. Call when a stopped-partway machine has a clear filter and a balanced load and still halts. Say which pattern you have when you book, because it changes what the technician expects to find. Call an electrician instead if the breaker trips on reset with the machine unplugged.
