What this usually is on these models
A QZW unit that runs constantly and stays warm is working hard at something that is not cooling. Work outwards from what the owner can change, because every one of those causes imitates the expensive one, so the checks below start outside the cabinet and move in. Start with a marginal supply or lead and leave a loss of refrigerant charge until everything cheaper has been excluded.
What you observe
- It runs for a few minutes, stops, and starts again — The same short cycle repeated all day, with the cabinet never coming down.
- Cold at the plate, warm at the far end of the cabinet — Cooling is being made but not distributed, which points at air rather than at the system.
- A hum or a click every few minutes and no sustained run — Something attempts to start and drops out, and the machinery end never warms.
- The panel is lit and nothing ever starts — The electronics are alive but no cooling is ever called for.
- NEAR MISS - freezes everything instead — Over-cooling is a control or setting question rather than a cooling failure, and the diagnosis runs the other way.
Ranked causes for these models
- A marginal supply or lead — It ranks first on this line because it is free to exclude and because it produces the two complaints that look most like a dead compressor.
- A door or lid that is not sealing — Second: on a compact cabinet the ratio of door to volume is large, so a leak that would be tolerable on a full-size refrigerator is decisive here.
- A warm load or an overfilled cabinet — Third, and worth excluding before going further: a cabinet packed to the walls has no room for air to move, and a large warm load takes far longer to pull down than owners expect. Both produce a warm cabinet and a compressor that will not stop.
- A loss of refrigerant charge — It ranks last deliberately: every cause above it produces the same warm cabinet for a fraction of the cost.
What to check first, second, third
- Prove the supply before anything else — Note whether the unit clicks and stops, or runs continuously. Clicking and stopping points at supply or start; running continuously points at airflow.
- Test the seal at several points — Close the door on a strip of paper at the top, the middle and the bottom of each side and pull. Anywhere it slides out freely is a leak, and the coldest part of the cabinet will be furthest from it.
- Judge the load and then leave it alone — Ask what went in and when. A big warm load the day the complaint started explains the complaint.

Safety
Switch off at the breaker or pull the plug before anything is opened, since a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not run the unit from a damaged lead or a loose socket while testing; a supply that sags under a compressor start also heats what it is running through.

When to call a technician
Stop and call if the compressor never runs at all despite a proven supply, or if it runs continuously with a hot condenser and a cabinet that stays warm. Those two describe the faults that need instruments rather than observation.
