What poor cleaning usually means on a Samsung
On a Samsung dishwasher, dirty or gritty dishes are usually the filter or a wash option left set, not a failing pump. These machines filter rather than grind, so soil collects and is recirculated over the load. Where only one rack is affected, look at the zone and half-load options before anything else: they direct the wash deliberately, and the rack they are not aimed at gets very little.
What you are seeing
- One rack is consistently clean and the other consistently dirty.
- Gritty deposits inside cups and bowls after a full cycle.
- A white film building on glassware over weeks.
- Plastics and cup bottoms still wet at the end.

Most likely causes, in Samsung order

- Rinse aid or detergent wrong for the water, or arm holes limed — Why ranked: Last. These show as film and wetness rather than as food left behind, which separates them from the causes above.

Safety
Switch off the dishwasher breaker before removing the toe kick or any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. These machines are commonly hard-wired, so pulling the machine forward does not isolate it. Broken glass hides in the filter cup - use a brush rather than bare fingers. Never mix dishwasher detergent with bleach or another cleaner in the tub.
When this becomes a service call
Results stay poor with a clean filter, no zone option and free spray arms. An arm turns freely but water plainly is not reaching one rack. Film persists after rinse aid and detergent have been corrected. The wash pump sounds rough or stops partway through a cycle.
