Working through the causes#
Incompatible cookware. Induction only heats ferromagnetic pans — aluminum, copper, glass, and many stainless pieces will not interact with the field. If a magnet does not grip the pan base, the zone cannot heat it. Test with a pan a magnet clings to before suspecting the cooktop. PowerFlex pairing misconfigured. PowerFlex, or FlexInduction, bridges two adjacent zones into one large zone for oversized cookware. If the pairing configuration is wrong, one of the paired zones can appear not to heat. Reset the zone pairing per the controls. Induction power module failure. The coils generate a high-frequency magnetic field, roughly 20 to 100 kilohertz, to induce heat in the pan. A failed power module for one zone leaves that zone dead while the others work, and the module is tested and replaced. Glass micro-crack at the sensor. The zone sensor detects cookware presence and size and only fires the module when a valid pan is present. A micro-crack in the glass over the sensor can stop detection, so the zone never activates. The glass surface is inspected. Overheating protection tripped. Overheating circuits shut a zone down when internal temperatures exceed safe limits, often from blocked ventilation. Clear the ventilation, let the cooktop cool, and confirm the zone returns.
