In brief
F06 points at the electronic control, or at the wiring between it and the rest of the oven. Treat the oven as out of service while the code is displayed, because a control reporting its own fault may not regulate heat reliably. A clean power cycle is the one test an owner can safely make before calling.
Error codes
Reference| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| F06 | There may be a problem with the Electronic Control, or the associated wiring. |
What you observe
- The code appeared after a power interruption — An outage, a storm or a tripped breaker came first, and the code was waiting when power returned.
- Beeping that no key press explains — The control is signalling a fault it cannot clear on its own.
- NEAR MISS: wrong temperature with no code — Without a code, calibration or the temperature sensor is the likelier subject, and the checks differ.
What triggers the code, in likelihood order
- A disturbed supply that left the control in a fault state — Ranked first when F06 followed an outage, a storm or a tripped breaker: a control can hold on to a fault from a disturbed supply, and a clean power cycle is all it needs.
- A connector that has worked loose — Harness plugs on the control board can back out with heat cycling or vibration, giving an open circuit only some of the time.
- Wiring damaged by heat or chafing — Harness runs near the cavity or along a sheet-metal edge can harden, crack or rub through, opening the circuit only at certain temperatures.
Diagnostic order, cheapest and safest first
- Pin down the timing — Whether the code arrives at power-up, mid-cook or late in a long bake is the cheapest diagnostic there is.
- Reset once and observe — A single clean power cycle shows whether the fault is latched or live; a code that returns at once is live.
- Check both halves of the breaker — A double breaker can trip on one side only. Switch it fully off and back on rather than trusting its handle position.
What an owner can safely do
- Reset the control with a power cycle — Switch the oven off at its breaker, wait a few minutes and switch it back on. A prompt to set the clock afterwards is normal.
About 5 min
- Run a short test bake — Set a plain bake, stay with the oven and note whether the code returns, at what point, and whether the oven heats.
Tools: oven-safe thermometerAbout 20 min
- Stop before any panel comes off — Everything past this point needs live measurements or a panel removed; that is the line between an owner check and a service call.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The control sits close to oven heat and live wiring; scorched trim or a smell of hot plastic means leaving the oven off at the breaker until it is inspected.
Reset or service call?
Book a technician once the reset has failed or F06 returns within a cooking session. In the meantime keep the oven off at the breaker if it heats by itself, beeps without stopping or smells hot around the control.

Scope of this code reading
Scope: the documented meaning of F06 for Jenn-Air ovens and ranges whose code list carries F06 with this electronic control-and-wiring reading. Out of scope: Jenn-Air cooktops, ventilation hoods, or any model whose documentation gives F06 another meaning; so is model-level detail such as connector positions and part numbers. A model-specific page, where one exists, is the more precise source.
