The short answer

The base pan refills after drying, because the leak has to be found before the machine should run again. The machine waits silently at fill with a fully open tap and an unkinked hose, which points at the solenoid in the anti-flood hose head. The machine will run with the door open, which is a latch safety fault and means stopping use immediately.
