The short answer
The first thing to rule out on a EuroDesign freezer is the top cause below — a displaced, cracked or overfull evaporation pan — and the second is a door seal letting humid air condense inside. - Frost or condensation appears at the top of the cabinet run, or the fitted door has stiffened — A built-in freezer sits in a warm cabinet, and any leak condenses where the cold meets the furniture.
- NEAR MISS — water plus food that has softened — Then the leak is a symptom: something has stopped the cabinet cooling and the frost is melting.
The ranking that matters

Safety
Water on the floor beside an appliance on a garage or basement circuit is an electrical hazard first and a nuisance second. Switch the cabinet off at its breaker and dry the floor before kneeling down; unplug the appliance before removing any panel, since a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never clear a drain hole with a sharp tool — the drain heater sits directly behind it.
Where the owner work ends
Call a technician when a cleared drain blocks again within weeks, when the drain is frozen rather than merely blocked, or when the leak arrives with heavy frost and a cabinet that is no longer holding temperature. Call immediately if water is reaching a lead, an outlet or the compressor compartment.
