What this usually means
An Elisii unit that has stopped making ice usually has a water problem or a temperature problem, not a broken ice maker. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below, and an ice maker will not cycle properly in a compartment that is warmer than it should be. Because these machines are installed by whoever unboxes them, the shut-off valve, the line route and the filter come before the module.
What owners actually observe
- Hollow or partly formed cubes — Water arriving too slowly: a restricted filter, a part-closed valve or low pressure.
- The ice maker cycles and grinds with nothing to show — A mechanical or harvest fault in the module itself.
- A slab of ice in the mould rather than cubes — The harvest is failing, or water keeps arriving after the mould is full.
- NEAR MISS: ice clumping into a block in the bin — That is melt and refreeze from door openings or a warm spell, not a production fault.
Likely causes in order of odds
- Water supply closed, kinked or never connected — Top of the list: the shut-off valve behind or below the appliance is easy to close by accident and easy to forget, and a line crushed when the unit was pushed back does the same thing. Check it before touching anything inside the freezer.
- Fill tube or water line frozen — Second most likely here: it is a very common fault and it usually has a cause behind it: a slow fill, a leaking valve or a door that is not sealing properly.
- Ice maker switched off, or the arm held up by the bin — Third: the arm or the on-off switch is the intended way to stop production, and a bin pushed in crooked holds the arm up indefinitely.
The order of checks, and why
- Find the shut-off valve and confirm it is open, then inspect the line — Look for kinks where the appliance was pushed back against the wall.
- Look for an ice ridge at the fill point above the mould — That visual is most of the diagnosis, and it explains a silent ice maker.
- Check the on-off switch and that the arm moves freely — Remove and refit the bin squarely, then watch for a fill.
