What this usually means
Door problems on an Elisii unit come in three shapes: a door that pops open mid cycle, a switch that will not let the machine start, and a drum seal that has worn and is letting hot air and lint escape. Because these machines are installed by whoever unboxes them, alignment and the catch come before any part. Sort which one you have, because the parts involved share nothing.
Symptoms, including the ones that mean something else
- A gritty feel as the door closes — Lint in the catch or the strike, which is cheap to clear.
- The door pops open part-way through a cycle — The catch or the strike has worn, and the machine stops as designed.
- The machine will not start although the door is plainly shut — That is the door switch, not the latch.
- Clothes catching in the door gap — A gap that has opened up, and a sign the seal or hinge needs attention.
- NEAR MISS: poor drying with a door that closes perfectly — That is airflow, and the drying-performance page covers it.
The ranking that matters
- Door or machine alignment has shifted — The leading cause here: a dryer that is not level, or one jammed against a washer, puts the door out of square and the catch then lands off centre.
- Door switch failed although the latch is fine — Second: this is the reason a door complaint and a no-start complaint are frequently the same fault.
- Catch, strike or latch worn or fouled with lint — Third in order: the catch takes every close, lint packs into it, and once it no longer holds, drum rotation is enough to shake the door open.
What to test first, second, third
- Check the gap around the closed door at all four corners — An uneven gap is geometry, and correcting it makes every door part last longer.
- Press the door firmly and try to start — Behaviour that improves under pressure points at the switch or the plunger.
- Clean the catch and strike, then close the door and pull gently — A door that opens under light pull is the catch, regardless of how it looks.

- Clean lint out of the catch, the strike and the door edge — A brush and a vacuum nozzle; lint packs into the catch recess.
