Poor cleaning in an ecozy dishwasher is a loading and filter problem far more often than a pump problem, and both of those are owner work. Work down the ranking below in order: by the time you reach the last cause you will usually have found it already.
What you actually observe
- A smell from the machine between cycles — Debris is sitting somewhere it should have been flushed from.
- The whole unit is affected at once rather than one part of it — A compact machine has one small circuit, so nothing here fails by halves.
- NEAR MISS: there is water still standing in the bottom at the end — That is a drainage fault and the drainage page covers it.
What it usually turns out to be, ranked
- How the machine is loaded, and what is expected of it — Items nested together, a large pan laid across the lower rack, or tall stems blocking the upper arm all shield whole areas from the spray. - A filter and coarse screen full of debris — The filter catches what comes off the dishes, and once it is full the machine pumps that same debris straight back over the load. - Look at whether glassware is cloudy rather than dirty — Cloudy but clean is a water-treatment story, not a wash fault.

- Reload so nothing blocks either arm, turn the arms by hand to confirm, then run the machine — Scrape plates rather than rinsing them spotless.

Safety
Switch off the breaker before removing the lower panel or the door skin: the heating element and the junction box are both live under the machine, and there is standing water in the sump. Never defeat the door latch to watch a cycle run. Let a hot machine cool before you reach into it.
When this becomes a service call
Call when the filter is clean, the arms are clear and spinning, the water is hot and a long cycle still leaves dishes dirty, because what is left is the wash pump, the heater or the diverter. Call sooner if the machine is noisy as well as ineffective, since a pump picking up debris announces itself.
