The short answer
A Dometic dryer that does nothing is usually a supply or a door-switch problem rather than a motor problem, and a machine that hums without turning is telling you something quite different from one that is silent. Note which of those you have before anything else.
What you actually observe
- The behaviour changes between battery power and a mains supply — That is the supply talking rather than the appliance.
- Nothing at all: no light, no sound — That points at the supply.
- NEAR MISS: the drum turns but there is no heat — That is a heating fault and it has its own page.
The causes, most likely first on this brand
- No power, or only half of it — A large appliance circuit feeds the machine through two legs on an electric dryer, and losing one can leave a machine that will not start at all. Ranked first on a Dometic dryer: a DC supply that sags under load looks exactly like a failed appliance, so the voltage at the unit itself comes first.

- An outlet or a protective device on the circuit — A machine plugged into a protected or shared outlet stops when anything else on that circuit faults. - Check the breaker at the panel and that the cord is seated fully — A totally dead machine is a supply story until proved otherwise.
- Read what the panel is showing and look for a lock or delay symbol — An unfamiliar symbol is the answer more often than people expect.
- Check whether anything else on the same circuit is also dead — Several things dead together is a circuit, not an appliance.

- Reset the breaker once, check the plug is fully home and try again — Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips again immediately.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before opening a panel: a large appliance circuit carries far more than a lighting circuit and the terminal block is live. If the machine is a gas one and you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off, leave the building and call the gas utility or the emergency number from outside. Never run the machine with the vent disconnected.
When to call a technician
Call when the supply is proved, the door latches and no lock or delay is set, because what remains is the switch, the motor, a thermal device or the belt. Call sooner if the machine hums without turning, and stop using it entirely if a breaker trips whenever it is switched on.
