Lost power, or protected itself?
A cycle that stops partway on a vehicle dryer is usually the supply dropping out or a thermal cut-out reacting to a crushed vent. Both are common on the road and neither is a control fault, so the first thing to establish is whether the machine lost power or protected itself.
What you are seeing
- The cycle stops partway and the machine is dead.
- The cycle stops partway and the machine is still lit.
- It stops at about the same elapsed time every load.
- It will not restart until it has stood.
- The cycle ends immediately on a sensing setting.
- Not this fault: A machine that never starts is a start fault - read that page.
- Not this fault: A full cycle that leaves the load damp is a drying fault.
Most likely causes, in Dometic order
- Supply dropped out - generator, inverter or pedestal breaker — Why ranked: First on this equipment. The machine is dead after the stop, which is the distinguishing sign.
- Thermal cut-out opening because the vent is crushed or the filter is blocked — Why ranked: Second: the machine is still lit but hot, and it refuses to restart until it has cooled.
- Vehicle not level, so the drum loads unevenly — Why ranked: Third. A machine well out of level runs harder and reaches its limits sooner.
- Door easing open under vibration — Why ranked: Fourth. In transit or on a boat, movement can nudge a worn catch and end the cycle.
- Timer or control fault — Why ranked: Last, and separated from the rest by not caring whether the machine is hot or the supply is steady.
What to check, in order
- Check whether the machine still has power immediately after the stop. — Because: Dead means the supply; lit means the machine stopped itself, and that single check splits the whole list.
- Note the elapsed time at which it stops over two loads. — Because: A repeatable elapsed time with a hot machine is a thermal trip.
- Try to restart immediately after the stop. — Because: A refusal while hot and a start when cool confirms the protector.
- Check the vent hose for crushing and clean the lint filter. — Because: Both cause the trip, and both are the owner's to correct.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A thermal cut-out tripping repeatedly is a warning about airflow and a fire risk in a confined space - never defeat or bypass it. Never run the machine with the lint filter removed. Do not bridge a thermal cut-out to keep the machine running. Stop using the machine at the first scorched smell.
When this becomes a service call
The machine trips repeatedly with a clean filter and a clear vent. The cycle ends immediately on every setting. There is a scorched smell at the stop. The supply drops out whenever the dryer runs.
