- A door switch dropping out mid-cycle — Second most likely: A catch that only just holds lets vibration open the circuit, and the control stops the drum exactly as it would if you had opened the door.
- A cycling thermostat that has drifted — Third most likely: A thermostat opening early gives short, cool cycles; one that has failed open gives a machine that runs and never heats at all.
- A motor cutting out on its own thermal overload — Fourth and the least likely here: A tired motor overheats and stops, then restarts when it cools — the same pattern as a duct problem, but with no heat involvement at all. These platforms run for a long time, so wear is real — but it is slower to arrive than the install faults above it.
Where to start and what follows
- Time how long it runs before stopping, and check whether it restarts after cooling — A consistent few minutes, then a stop, then a restart when cool, is thermal cycling and the duct is the cause. Start here: on this platform it is both the most likely finding and the quickest to confirm.
- Watch whether the stop coincides with the load thumping — Stops that follow a heavy thump are mechanical, not electronic.
- Feel the exhaust temperature early in the cycle — Warm-then-cool within a couple of minutes, with a clear duct, is the thermostat rather than the air path.

- Clear the duct and the lint housing, then run a cycle with the duct disconnected briefly to compare — If it runs happily with the duct off, the duct is the whole story and nothing inside the cabinet needs attention.
