The short answer
A conventional vented dryer holds no water at all, so water on the floor beside one is either coming from the machine next to it, from condensation in a cold duct, or — on a condensing, heat-pump or steam model — from the water the machine genuinely handles. The reason condensation collecting in a cold or sagging duct heads the ranking on a Crosley is simple: these units change homes more than most, and levelling, hose routing and venting are what the move breaks first. Identifying the source and emptying a condensate tank are owner work; a blocked condensate pump or a leaking steam valve is not.

- Water pools under a condensing or heat-pump cabinet — That machine really does collect water, and its tank, filter or pump is the place to look.
- A steam model wets the drum or leaves water at the rear — The steam inlet line and its valve are a genuine water connection at the back of the cabinet.
- Water appears on the floor between the washer and the dryer — The most common finding by a wide margin, and it usually belongs to the washer or its drain standpipe.
- NEAR MISS — The laundry comes out wetter than it went in — That is not a leak; it is a drying fault and it belongs on the performance page.

- Feel the inlet connection at the back with a dry tissue — A tissue shows a weep that a hand will miss, and it tells you whether the fault is at the tap, the hose or the valve.

- Support the duct so it runs without dips and shorten it where you can — Where the run crosses an unheated space, insulating it stops the condensation forming in the first place.

Call once you have proven the water belongs to the dryer rather than its neighbour, and emptying the tank and cleaning the condenser filter have not stopped it — the pump, the sump and their seals are inside the cabinet.
