A dishwasher leak shows up either as water on the kitchen floor or as damage under the cabinet, and because the machine is built in, finding where it starts matters more than on any other appliance. On a Crosley the inlet or drain connection under the sink comes first, because these units change homes more than most, and levelling, hose routing and venting are what the move breaks first. Door seals, spray arm damage and connection checks are owner work; a tub seal, a pump seal or a cracked sump is not.
What the machine is doing
- Water only escapes on certain cycles — Longer or hotter cycles fill more and run longer, which reveals a marginal seal.
- Suds come out of the door — The wrong detergent, or a spill in the tub — not a seal fault.
- Water appears at the front under the door — Door gasket, a distorted door, or an overfilling tub.
- NEAR MISS — Water on the door edge when you open it mid-cycle — Normal condensation and spray; judge a leak with the door closed.
The causes and their order
- The inlet or drain connection under the sink — First on this brand: these units change homes more than most, and levelling, hose routing and venting are what the move breaks first. The tap tail, the inlet coupling and the waste connection are all under the sink, and a slow weep there reads as a dishwasher leak.
- The wrong detergent producing foam — Second: Hand dish soap in a dishwasher generates foam that lifts past the door seal; it looks alarming and nothing is broken.
- A door gasket that is hardened, displaced or dirty — Third: The gasket runs round the tub and takes food debris at its lower corners; grease and age make it stiff and it stops following the door.
- A cracked spray arm or a dislodged upper feed — Fourth, and the last to suspect: A split arm throws water at the door rather than at the dishes, and it leaks only while the pump runs. These platforms run for a long time, so wear is real — but it is slower to arrive than the install faults above it.
The order to work in
- Dry everything under the sink and put paper down before a cycle — Paper shows exactly which joint wets first, which no amount of feeling around will tell you. Start here: on this platform it is both the most likely finding and the quickest to confirm.
- Look for suds rather than clean water at the door — Foam means the product, not the machine, and it clears once the tub is rinsed out.
- Run a finger round the gasket and look at the lower corners — Debris, a flattened section or a gasket sitting out of its channel is a finding you can see and feel.
Hands-on checks
- Dry the joints, lay paper, run a cycle and check the paper afterwards — Tighten a weeping compression joint only gently, and replace a hose that is bulging or crazed.

The hazards on this appliance
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Close the taps before any hose comes off, and never bypass a door or lid switch to run the machine open.
When to call a technician
Call when the gasket is clean and seated, the arms are sound, the connections under the sink stay dry and water still appears — particularly if it is only visible underneath the cabinet.
