The short answer
A Contoure dryer that runs cold is more often being stopped by its own safety devices, or by the air path they protect, than by a failed heater. On this class the usual cause is a condenser or drain path blocked on a ventless machine, with a blocked lint filter or a restricted vent duct next to rule out.
What you actually observe
- The drum is warm and the clothes stay damp — Heat is present and the moisture has nowhere to go.
- Clothes are damp and the cycle has ended — The machine believed it had finished, which is worth knowing.
- NEAR MISS: the drum does not turn at all — That is a different page, with the door switch, the belt and the supply at the top of its list.
The causes, most likely first on this brand
- A condenser or drain path blocked on a ventless machine — A ventless dryer condenses the moisture it removes rather than blowing it outside, and a blocked condenser or a full tank stops the whole process while the drum keeps turning. Ranked first on a Contoure unit: a coach machine condenses its moisture rather than venting it, so the condenser and the drain are what stop it drying and they need routine cleaning.
- A blocked lint filter or a restricted vent duct — A dryer works by moving hot air through the load and out, and a restricted path leaves the heat trapped in the cabinet until a safety device cuts it off entirely. Ranked second here: a ventless machine still has a lint filter and it blocks just as readily.
- A drum loaded past what the airflow can carry — Ranked third here: a small coach drum holds far less than owners expect.

Check in this order, and why this order
- Check the condenser filter and whether the water tank or drain is clear — A full tank stops most of these machines and says so quietly if at all.
- Pull the lint filter and hold it up to the light, then feel the exhaust outside — A filter that will not pass light, or an outside vent with no strong flow, is the answer.
- Look at how full the drum is and whether the load tumbles freely — A drum that should be about half full when loaded is the usual guidance.
What an owner can safely check
- Empty the tank, rinse the condenser filter and check the drain hose is not kinked — On a ventless machine this is routine maintenance rather than a repair.

Safety
Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before any panel comes off. If you smell gas, do not switch anything on or off, leave the building, and call the gas utility or your emergency number from outside; do not look for the leak yourself. Lint is the fuel in almost every dryer fire, so treat a restricted vent as urgent rather than as an inconvenience. Never run a dryer with its vent disconnected into the room.
When to call a technician
Call once the filter, the duct, the cycle and the supply are all clean and the machine still runs cold, because an element, an igniter or a thermostat needs a meter and panels off. Call immediately rather than investigating if you smell gas, and leave the building first. Bear in mind when you decide that an RV appliance is serviced by RV dealers rather than by household appliance technicians, and the warranty usually runs through the dealer who sold the coach.
