No ice on a Commercial Cool refrigerator most often means the mould is not being filled. A frozen fill tube is the classic version on any cabinet whose freezer runs slightly cold or whose water pressure is marginal, and it announces itself with a hollow plug of ice at the back of the maker rather than with any noise. Nothing below asks you to open anything that should stay closed.
The observables
- Water pooling under the bin or running down the back wall — An overfill or a misdirected fill; the valve or the tube alignment is at fault rather than the maker. It is the sort of check a technician does first, for the same reason.
- The bin arm or fill-level sensor is held out of position — A bag of shopping resting against the arm is enough to stop production entirely. Time it roughly, as the pattern matters more than the exact interval.
- Cubes are small, hollow or crescent-thin — Water is arriving but the fill is short, which is restriction rather than failure. If the answer is clear, stop here and act on it.
- Ice is fused into a single block — Water reaching the tray between cycles, often from a fill that does not shut cleanly or a cabinet that is not level. Time it roughly, as the pattern matters more than the exact interval.
Causes, most likely first
- A failed inlet valve or its solenoid — Below the plumbing causes because it is genuinely less common: the valve is a simple part with one job, and when it fails it usually fails silent rather than intermittently. Note whether it happens every time or only sometimes, because that distinction narrows the list.
- Air in the line after a filter change — The system needs purging: run the dispenser until the water is steady before judging anything about the ice.
- A filter fitted wrongly or a generic filter that does not seat — A filter that is not sealing restricts flow, and the symptom is indistinguishable from an old one.
- A worn ejector or harvest mechanism — The machine end of the fault, and the point at which an owner hands the job over. A cause in this position is worth eliminating before you spend anything.
The elimination order
- Fill a glass from the dispenser and watch the flow — A thin or hesitant stream says the restriction is upstream of the maker, in the valve or the filter. If this is the cause, the evidence for it is usually visible rather than inferred.
- Look for an ice plug in the fill tube and the mould — A torch at the back of the maker shows it plainly. Ice where water should run is both the cause and the reason nothing else you check will make sense. Repeat it once if the answer is ambiguous rather than moving on with a maybe.
- Confirm the freezer compartment temperature — A maker in a compartment that is too warm will underproduce whatever the water is doing.

- Thaw the fill tube with a hairdryer on low — Keep the heat moving and stop as soon as water runs. A result here decides whether the next two checks are worth doing at all.

Switch off and unplug before a single fastener comes out. Stored charge does not drain the instant the supply stops. The sealed side, meaning the compressor, its tubing and the charge inside them, is not owner territory at any level of confidence. Leave the door or lid switch wired exactly as you found it; it is a guard and not an inconvenience.
The handover point
Stop and call when the picture changes: clearing ice and changing a filter are owner jobs, and replacing a module or chasing an inlet valve is not. It is not about difficulty; it is about what happens when something goes wrong. Call the same day if the cabinet is warm enough that food is at risk, because the clock on what is inside runs faster than the clock on the repair.
