What you observe

- The panel resets itself or flickers — That is a supply or connector fault: a board browning out and restarting rather than a logic failure. Do this before the check below it, because the answer changes what that one means.
- Settings that will not hold overnight — Settings that revert are worth checking against the mode the machine is in before condemning anything.
Ranked causes for this machine
- A temperature sensor out of range or open circuit — First because it is the commonest real fault behind a code: a thermistor is a tiny part in a cold, damp place, and when its reading drifts the board reports it honestly.
- Moisture or a spill behind the control panel — It earns a place because the symptom, meaning phantom presses, is otherwise hard to explain.
- An unstable supply or a loose connection at the plug — Below the others but real: a board that browns out resets, and resets look exactly like intermittent logic failure from the outside. That single observation eliminates more of the list than any amount of guessing.

- Check whether the interior lamp follows the door — The lamp is the cheapest window onto the door switch, and a failed switch explains a lot of odd control behaviour. Where two causes look alike from the outside, this is the one that is more often right.
