Start with water and temperature
Before ordering anything for a Commercial Cool cabinet that has stopped making ice, answer two questions: is the maker switched on, and is the compartment actually cold enough to harvest? Those two account for most no-ice complaints, they cost nothing, and they are the two a technician asks about on the telephone. twenty-six model numbers share the CCR designation. They are in the table below, and the trailing letters that separate them are finish and trim codes rather than different mechanisms — the fault below behaves the same across the list.
What you actually observe
- Maker fills but never harvests — The mould is not reaching harvest temperature, or the module has failed. Compartment temperature first.
- Nothing happens at all and no water arrives — Supply side: shut-off valve, the line, the inlet valve, or a frozen fill tube.
- Ice production stopped after the filter was changed — An unseated cartridge or an air lock. Common, immediate and free to correct.
- Bail arm is up or the setting is off — The most-missed cause there is, and it takes seconds to rule out.
- NEAR MISS — plenty of ice but the cabinet is warm — Then the cooling page is the right one; the maker working proves the cold side is not the problem.
Most likely first
- Filter and flow — Ranked first where the cubes are small or hollow rather than absent: an overdue cartridge, an unseated one after a change, or air still in the line.
- Freezing in the fill path — Second, and visible with a torch: a plug of ice at the end of the fill tube stops the fill without anything having failed.
- Temperature and airflow in the compartment — Third. Frost across the compartment, a blocked vent or a door seal losing the argument all reduce the maker to a spectator.
- Valve and module — Last. An inlet valve that opens partially gives poor ice; one that does not open gives none. Both are diagnosed with a meter behind a panel.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Check the household shut-off first — Plumbing work, a cleaner moving things, or a new appliance nearby. A closed valve is free to find and embarrassing to pay for.
- Replace or reseat the filter — An unseated cartridge after a change is one of the most frequent causes of production stopping overnight.
- Watch one complete cycle — Fill, freeze, harvest. Knowing which of the three fails is the single most useful thing you can tell a technician.
- Leave the module alone until the rest is clear — It is the expensive assumption, and it is wrong more often than it is right on a cabinet that recently worked.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not thaw a frozen fill tube with a heat gun, a hair dryer on full or boiling water poured into the compartment: the plastic distorts, and a distorted tube leaks into the cabinet afterwards. If you close a household shut-off valve to work on the supply, open it again slowly and check the joint for weeping before pushing the cabinet back.
