The short answer
Not every model in this family ships with an ice maker, so the first question is whether yours has one and whether it is switched on — the bail arm or the on-screen setting stops production silently. After that the order is supply, then temperature, then the module itself. three model numbers share the WCR designation. They are in the table below, and the trailing letters that separate them are finish and trim codes rather than different mechanisms — the fault below behaves the same across the list.
What you actually observe
- Maker cycles on schedule and the bin stays empty — Harvest without fill. Look at the valve, the line and the fill tube.
- Ice arrives but takes days rather than hours — Low throughput. On a small cabinet in a warm room some of that is normal.
- Production stopped when the weather turned hot — A compartment that is holding food but not reaching harvest temperature will stop making ice first.
- A trickle of water into the bin between cycles — A valve that is not closing fully. Worth reporting, because it also fuses the cubes into a block.
- NEAR MISS — no ice on a model that never had a maker — Check the table above and the rating plate before diagnosing anything at all.
Most likely first
- Something switched off — First, because it costs nothing: the bail arm, the setting, an energy-saving mode, or a supply valve turned off during other work and never turned back on.
- Something frozen — Second: the fill tube, the line where it passes through a cold section, or the mould itself if the maker has overfilled.
- Something restricted — Third: a filter overdue, a kinked line behind the cabinet, or an inlet valve that opens partially and gives small hollow cubes.
- Something failed — Last: the module, its thermostat or its motor. A real cause, but the least likely of the four on a cabinet that was making ice recently.
Check in this order, and why that order
- Check the household shut-off first — Plumbing work, a cleaner moving things, or a new appliance nearby. A closed valve is free to find and embarrassing to pay for.
- Replace or reseat the filter — An unseated cartridge after a change is one of the most frequent causes of production stopping overnight.
- Watch one complete cycle — Fill, freeze, harvest. Knowing which of the three fails is the single most useful thing you can tell a technician.
- Leave the module alone until the rest is clear — It is the expensive assumption, and it is wrong more often than it is right on a cabinet that recently worked.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Do not thaw a frozen fill tube with a heat gun, a hair dryer on full or boiling water poured into the compartment: the plastic distorts, and a distorted tube leaks into the cabinet afterwards. If you close a household shut-off valve to work on the supply, open it again slowly and check the joint for weeping before pushing the cabinet back.

Where the owner line is on these models
Call once the cheap half is honestly cleared. That means the arm down, the setting on, a filter that is seated and in date, a supply that delivers water elsewhere in the cabinet, and a compartment cold enough that ice cream is firm. If ice still does not arrive, the fault is in the maker or the inlet valve. Call sooner if you find water inside the cabinet or under it, because a valve that leaks slowly does damage that outlasts the ice complaint. The three models listed share this diagnosis but not their part numbers, so have the rating plate to hand before the visit is booked.
