The signs, and the near misses
- Sparking or arcing inside the cavity — Stop the oven at once; metal, foil or burnt residue is the usual cause and it damages the cavity quickly.

- NEAR MISS — the oven runs but does not heat — That is an output fault and it belongs on the heating page.

Likely causes in order
- Metal, foil or a metallic trim in the cavity — Ranked first: It is the commonest cause of sparking and it is entirely preventable. It sits at the top here because this is a high-volume budget line from a major maker, so the design is conventional and the wear points are the conventional ones.
- Burnt food residue or a damaged waveguide cover — Second: Residue carbonises and then arcs, and the arcing burns the waveguide cover, which then arcs more.
- High-voltage component failing under load — Third: A failing diode or capacitor draws heavily and trips the protective device the moment cooking starts.
The diagnostic order
- Note when the breaker trips — At switch-on or at the start of cooking: the two point at different circuits.
- Inspect the plug and socket for scorching — Visible heat damage is a supply-side finding and it changes the priority right away.
- Watch and listen to the door closing — A latch that needs lifting, pushing or holding is a safety finding instead of an inconvenience.
Owner-side steps
- STOP — do not fit another fuse and try again — A fuse that blows twice is reporting a fault; the third one does not fix it.
- Unplug the oven and leave it unplugged — This is the first and most important step, and it stays in force until a technician has seen it.

Safety
Pull the plug first, every time. The high-voltage capacitor inside can hold a charge that will injure or kill after the oven is dead and dark; only a technician with a discharge tool should be past the cover. The door, its latch and its switches are the containment system: if any of the three is damaged, stop using the oven and have it assessed instead of running it as it is.
When to book a visit
There is no owner-side line to cross here: unplugging, cleaning and recording is owner work, and everything inside the case is not. Anything that smells of burning, trips a breaker or leaves scorch marks is a stop-now condition instead of a diagnosis to continue.
