Straight answer first
When a Comfee CL washer leaks, watch which part of the cycle produces it — fill, wash or drain each point somewhere different. These machines have more connections than a plumbed-in unit, and connections are what leak. Deal with the water on the floor first — it outruns the appliance fault.
The observable signs on this platform
- Damp on the wall behind — Check the standpipe as well: a surge can back out of it.
- Water while the drum turns — Note whether the load was large — a packed drum pushes water at the seal.
- Water appears only while filling — Dry the joints and watch — a weep shows itself.
- New water since it was pulled out — Check the hose is not trapped behind the machine.
- NEAR MISS — damp that turns out to be condensation — Dry it, run a cycle and look for a trail rather than a sheen.
What it usually turns out to be, in order
- Foam rather than water — It belongs high on compact machines because the drum is far smaller than the dose on the box assumes.
- Detergent drawer backing up — Cleaning the drawer and its housing is a ten-minute job.
- The gasket not sealing — It ranks in the middle because a seal leak needs the drum turning, which makes it distinctive but less common than a fitting.
- Filter cap seal dirty — High here because the cap is closed without tools and it is the part most recently disturbed on any machine that has had a drain fault.
The order to work in
- Wipe the door or lid seal and look in the fold — Fibre and coins in the fold hold the seal open at one point, and cleaning is usually the whole fix.
- Dry the floor and watch which stage produces the water — Fill, wash and drain each point somewhere different, so note the moment rather than the puddle.
- Feel around the tap and machine ends while it fills — Do it during the fill step — that is the only time the supply side is pressurised.
- Open the access flap and check the filter cap — A cap left slightly loose leaks only when the pump runs, which is why it survives casual inspection.
Safety first, and it is not optional

Close the supply before you unscrew anything, and expect the hose to hold water even after the tap is closed. Take the machine out of use rather than running it to see how bad the leak gets. Water on the floor and a plugged-in machine do not belong together — isolate first, then investigate.
