Straight answer first
On the Comfee CRV platform a warm cabinet with an audible compressor points at the two cheap causes first. Heat that cannot leave the coil comes straight back into the cabinet, which is the whole of this fault on a unit this size. These are compact cabinets, so the condenser sits close to the wall and coil, compressor and room air share one small volume of moving air.
What the owner sees and hears
- The fan cannot be heard with the door open — Hold the door switch in and listen: on a forced-air cabinet that fan comes on within a second or two.
- Water pooling under the crisper — Melt that had nowhere to go usually means a blocked drain, and that often travels with a defrost problem.
- Partly cold, but nowhere near setpoint — A cabinet stuck part of the way is the most common form of this complaint on compact units.

- Heat rejection blocked at the coil — This platform runs the condenser against the rear skin, so clearance and dust eat into it from the day it is installed.
- Evaporator fan failing — Where it applies it outranks the sealed system, since a stopped fan leaves the shelves unserved.
- Warm air leaking past the door — It earns this position by frequency, not by drama: the fault is quiet and continuous and it never gets better on its own.
Check in this order, and why
- Look at the condenser coil and the space around it — First because the coil is the commonest fault and the easiest to see once the unit is away from the wall.
- Hold the door switch and feel for a draught — Skip this step on a static cabinet — nothing is meant to blow.
- Test the door seal all the way round — Two minutes, no tools, and it removes the fault owners skip on small cabinets.

Move perishables to a cooler before you start — a refrigerator holds food safely at 40 °F (4 °C) or below, and a warm cabinet has already stopped doing that. Refrigerant work is licensed work: if the fault turns out to be inside the sealed loop, the job stops being an owner job there. Before a screwdriver touches this machine, isolate it at the plug or the breaker; stored charge does not care that the cord is out.
