What this means on these models
When a Comfee CRV refrigerator leaks, the question is where the water was made, and the answer decides everything else. These cabinets make condensate continuously and route it to a pan above or beside the compressor, where it is meant to evaporate. The first job is to decide which of the two water sources you are looking at, and where the puddle sits usually tells you.
What you actually observe
- The puddle returns on a cycle — A cycle-linked pattern excludes plumbing almost on its own.
- A puddle just outside the door — Open the door and look at the base of the compartment — the answer is usually inside.
- A standing pool inside the cabinet — That is a blocked drain almost always, with the water backing up where it should be leaving.
- More water in summer — A supply leak is steady year-round, which makes this a useful test.
- NEAR MISS — the cabinet is warm as well — Treat the temperature as the primary complaint and this page as secondary.
What it usually turns out to be, in order
- Defrost drain plugged — On a compact unit the channel catches everything that spills, and the hole at its lowest point is the first thing to close.
- Warm room air reaching the cold plate — Ranked above the mechanical causes because a paper strip settles it and it is very common on older cabinets.
- Defrost water arriving too fast — It ranks here because a cabinet that has been left open builds far more ice than normal, and the drain was never sized for that.
- Evaporation tray cracked, displaced or overflowing — Common enough to check whenever the unit has been moved, cleaned behind, or transported.
What to check first, second, third
- Find the drain hole and check whether it is clear — First because it is the commonest cause and you can often see it once the drawers are out.
- Work around the gasket looking for gaps — A seal that lets humid air in makes more water than the drain can carry.
- Check the pan over the compressor — Look for damage or displacement rather than just for water.
- Put a level across the front and along the side — Second because it is free and instant and it decides whether backed-up water reaches the floor.

A cabinet with water under it slides unpredictably, so clear and dry before pulling it out. Unplug the refrigerator or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. If you find a supply-line leak, close the tap before touching the joint and check the joint again afterwards.
