A dryer that will not start is usually held by the door switch, the start circuit or the supply. On a Care dryer the door and the breaker come before anything inside the cabinet. That puts the door switch is not being made at the top of the list here and the start switch or the motor start circuit at the bottom.
What owners actually report
- Completely dead — no light, no display — A supply symptom.
- The drum light works but nothing runs — Power is arriving; the start circuit or the door switch is holding it.
- NEAR MISS — it runs but does not heat — The machine is running. That is the heating page.
Likely causes on this kind of machine
- The door switch is not being made — The dryer will not run with the door reported open. A worn strike or a tired switch stops everything with the panel still lit. The door switch and its strike are the cheapest safety part in the machine and the one the whole cycle depends on.
- Supply missing or half missing — An electric dryer runs on a large-appliance circuit carrying two live legs. Supply is proved before anything is condemned, because a dead outlet and a dead appliance look identical.
- A thermal fuse that has opened — Blocked venting overheats the machine and the fuse opens permanently, often leaving a dryer that is completely dead. First on this class of machine because the vent, the lint path and the blower are what the platform depends on, and they are also what nobody services until something stops working.
- The start switch or the motor start circuit — A machine that runs only while the button is held points straight here.
Where to start, and what each check rules out
- Open and close the door firmly and listen for the switch — A click and a start says the switch was the fault.
- Check both halves of the double breaker on an electric machine — A half-tripped double breaker is a classic dryer symptom.
- Turn the drum by hand — Free movement rules out a seized drum; a loose, floppy feel suggests a broken belt.
The owner-side procedure
- Reset the breaker fully — off and firmly back on — A double breaker must be pushed fully off before resetting.
- Check the door strike and that nothing fouls the door — A worn strike keeps the switch from closing reliably.
- STOP before opening the cabinet to test the fuse or switch — The thermal fuse and the start circuit sit at mains voltage inside the machine.

A thermal fuse is a fire-safety device. Replacing or bypassing one without clearing the vent that opened it puts the machine straight back into the condition that caused it. Unplug before opening the cabinet.

Call once the door, the breaker and the vent are proved and the machine is still dead — thermal fuses, start switches and motors are metered work inside the cabinet. Call immediately if there is any burnt smell, because that points at the vent and the heater.
