The short answer
Read what the panel is telling you before opening anything: a large share of control complaints are a mode that was set on purpose, a lock, or a board that a power interruption confused.
What you observe
- A code or letter combination in the display
- Buttons that do not respond, or respond to the wrong function
- The display lit but the cabinet not cooling
- A panel that blanks and returns on its own
- Temperature settings that will not hold
- An alarm tone with no obvious cause
- The panel is entirely dark and the cabinet silent — Means: a supply problem rather than a control one
- The panel is normal but the cabinet is warm — Means: a cooling fault the control is not reporting
- A door alarm that is correct — Means: a door or gasket fault
