The short answer
When ice production drops on the Caf CJE family, the cause is more often upstream of the appliance than inside it — supply pressure, a shutoff that was never fully opened, or a filter past its life. - The ice maker runs but the dispenser delivers nothing — That splits the fault into the delivery chute and auger rather than the maker itself.
- A frost plug at the end of the fill tube — The visible signature of a fill that overshot or a tube that lost its alignment; the next fill freezes on top of the last.
- Ice production stopped after a filter change — An unseated cartridge or an aftermarket filter that does not match the head restricts flow immediately.
- NEAR MISS — no ice and no cooling either — If the freezer is not holding temperature, the ice maker is a symptom. Work the cooling page first; the ice returns when the cold does.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Freezer temperature above the harvest point — Ranked first here because the bin evidence points at temperature before it points at water.
- Supply flow — shutoff partly closed, filter restricted or a kinked line — Second: the line behind the unit gets crushed when a cabinet is pushed back into place, and the symptom is identical to a tired filter.
- Fill tube ice plug — Third, and the one to clear last among the water-side causes so it does not simply rebuild.
- Dispenser chute or auger jam — Fourth: ice is being made and cannot get out, which is a delivery fault masquerading as a production one.
- Module, ejector or inlet valve — Last because every cause above it is either free or a consumable.
Check in this order, and why
- Read the freezer temperature against 0 °F (−18 °C) — Harvest waits on the mould reaching its release point, so a warm freezer stalls a perfectly good ice maker.
- Date the water filter — A cartridge past its life, or an aftermarket one that does not seat in this head, drops flow before it drops taste.
- Trace the supply line from the shutoff to the unit — Look for a crushed line behind the cabinet and a valve that is only part open; both are common after a move.
- Only then look at the module — By this point the water side is proven, and a module that still will not cycle is a real fault rather than an assumption.

Unplug before touching the module or its harness — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below; if this job is going to take a while, move the frozen contents out first rather than working with the door propped. Keep water away from the dispenser electrics when clearing a chute.
