The short answer
Ice faults on the Caf CVE family fall into three buckets: no water in, water in but no harvest, and ice made but jammed on the way out. Work out which bucket you are in before touching anything, because each one has a different first check and they do not overlap.
What you can observe on these models
- Cubes are small, hollow or crescent-shaped — Water is arriving but not enough of it. That is flow: a restricted filter, a partly closed shutoff or low supply pressure.
- The mould holds water that never releases — The fill worked and the harvest did not. Look at freezer temperature and at the module, in that order.
- Cubes have fused into a single block in the bin — Slow production plus repeated part-thaws welds the bin together. It is usually a symptom of a warm freezer, not of the ice maker.
- NEAR MISS — water leaking from the dispenser front — That is a water-leak fault rather than a production fault, and it belongs on the leak page.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Freezer temperature above the harvest point — First on a cabinet whose cubes are also fusing in the bin: both symptoms come from the same warm freezer, and fixing the ice maker would fix nothing.
- Supply flow — shutoff partly closed, filter restricted or a kinked line — Second because it is the cause that reappears after any move or filter change.
- Fill tube ice plug — Third: it follows from the two causes above rather than standing alone, so clearing it without fixing them buys a few days.
- Dispenser chute or auger jam — Fourth — empty the bin, break the sheet under it and try again before ordering anything.
- Module, ejector or inlet valve — Last: the electrical parts, and the ones that need a meter to condemn honestly.
Check in this order, and why
- Empty the bin completely and look underneath — A sheet of ice under the bin jams the auger and stops delivery while production continues normally.
- Confirm water reaches the mould on a forced fill — Water arriving and then sitting unfrozen moves the whole fault to temperature rather than supply.
- Check the fill tube alignment — A tube nudged out of line overfills the mould edge and builds the plug that stops the next cycle.
- Compare cube size over a full day — Hollow cubes that stay hollow confirm restricted flow; normal cubes that stop confirm the harvest side.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug before touching the module or its harness — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below; if this job is going to take a while, move the frozen contents out first rather than working with the door propped. Keep water away from the dispenser electrics when clearing a chute.

When to call a technician

Call when water reaches the mould, the freezer is at temperature, and it still will not harvest — that is a module or thermostat fault and it needs a meter to condemn honestly. Call sooner if the supply line is weeping at a fitting, since a slow drip behind a cabinet does damage long before anyone sees it.
