- Overloaded drum or a load that is too wet — Why here: free to correct and responsible for a real share of complaints that arrive as a heating fault — Confirmed by: the drum is packed, or the washer left the load barely spun
- Heater, thermal fuse or thermostat open — Why here: last because a restricted vent is what usually kills these parts — replacing one without clearing the restriction simply kills the next — Confirmed by: the drum turns with no heat at all at any setting, with the vent proven clear

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Lint is fuel.
