The reading in two sentences
Read e011 as this: a touch sensor on the oven control panel has failed. If the panel will not accept input, the oven is not controllable, so treat it as out of use until the surface has been cleaned and power-cycled. You can settle whether this is a one-off or a real fault yourself; naming the failed part is not owner work.

| e011 | Touch sensor failure on oven control panel. |
What else is happening when this shows
- The panel accepts input only when pressed hard or held — A sensor that needs persuading is failing rather than failed, which is the stage most people notice.
- Tones sound with nothing being touched — The panel is reacting to something on its surface rather than to a finger.
- NEAR MISS — the panel is dark and does nothing at all — That is a supply or a link fault rather than a surface one, and it is checked differently.
What triggers e011, most likely first
- Cooking residue or a greasy film over the sensor — It goes first because it costs nothing and it is what an oven panel collects: a film of grease in front of one sensor changes what it reads, and the panel looks perfectly clean at a glance.
- Steam from the hob or the cavity reaching the panel — Condensation on or behind the glass bridges the sensor and clears as it dries, which is why the fault so often follows cooking rather than sitting still.
- A failed interface board behind the panel — Last: the expensive candidate, and the only honest way to reach it is to have the surface clean, dry and unloaded first.
The order to work through
- Look along the glass in reflected light for a film — A grease film is invisible head-on and obvious at an angle.
- Test each key in turn and write down which ones respond — A map of live and dead keys separates a local cause from a failed panel.
- Clear everything off the control surface — Not most things — everything, including a cloth draped over the edge.
- Body: Map which keys work before cleaning anything — a single dead key and a whole dead panel are different faults with different costs.
The reset and the checks that follow it
- Take everything off the panel and wipe it dry — A dry cloth, then a dry pass. Many of these codes clear here and never return.
Tools: dry clothAbout 5 min
- Degrease the panel with detergent on the cloth, dry it fully, then power-cycle the oven — Never spray at the glass: liquid that gets behind it stays there and makes the fault permanent.
Tools: cloth, mild detergentAbout 15 min
- Clean the surface properly and dry it fully — Mild detergent on the cloth rather than on the glass, then dry it completely before powering up.

- STOP HERE — the membrane and its connector are behind the glass — Getting behind a control panel means live terminals, so that is service work.
Before a panel comes off
Safety
Unplug the oven or switch off its breaker before any panel comes off — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The cavity and the glass stay hot long after the heat is off, so let everything cool first. On a gas model, if you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility from outside.
Where an owner check ends
Call straight away if the overlay is cracked, lifting or has taken water underneath, or if the same key keeps failing on a clean dry panel.
Other codes on a Bosch oven
What is deliberately not here
Treat this as the general Bosch oven reading. It stops short of anything model-specific — part numbers, harness colours, connector layouts and service-mode entry — because those differ by family and a technician takes them from the rating plate rather than from a code. A family- or model-specific page, where one exists, is linked from the code index below and is the closer answer.
