The reading in two sentences
E25 on this dryer means the control reports an electronics fault, and the published table names no component for it — that is what the manufacturer published for it, and no more. If the dryer completes a full cycle after a power cycle you can use it; stop if the code returns mid-cycle. One of the checks below is an owner check, and the rest of the work is behind a panel.
Error codes
Reference| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| E25 | There is an electronics fault/error. |
What else is happening when this shows
- The fault follows a long run of back-to-back loads — Heat accumulating in the cabinet is one of the few environmental causes an owner can act on.
- Behaviour that changes between attempts — An inconsistent fault points at a connection or a supply rather than a failed component.
- NEAR MISS — no display and no response at all — That is a supply fault rather than an electronics code, and it starts at the breaker.
What triggers E25, most likely first
- Heat and lint dust around the control — It goes first among the causes you can act on: a dryer control sits in a warm cabinet full of fine dust, and dust bridging a connector produces an unaccountable reading that comes and goes with how hard the machine is worked.
- A loose connector or a chafed harness at the control — It ranks here because it is the commonest physical cause: a plug not fully home fails a self-check intermittently, which is exactly how these codes behave.
- A genuinely failed control board — Last, and deliberately so: it is the most expensive answer, and the four causes above imitate it exactly while costing nothing to eliminate.
The order to work through
- Run one load with nothing else on the circuit — That separates a supply-sensitive reading from a live control fault.
- Time how long the appliance stays clear afterwards — Immediately, hours or days — that answer decides what is worth doing next.
- Check the appliance has its own outlet and no adaptor in the path — A marginal supply is a common cause of codes that name no component.
The reset and the checks that follow it
- Give the appliance its own outlet with nothing shared — Remove strips, adaptors and extension leads from the path before anything is ordered.
About 10 min
- Power down for a full minute, clean the filter and air paths, then run one complete cycle and note the result — Whether it finishes, where it stops and what the display shows are the three things worth recording.
Tools: vacuum, soft brushAbout 60 min
- Let a damp or steamed appliance dry out and retest — If the code follows a hot or humid cycle, leave it off and open until dry, then try again.
About 60 min
- STOP HERE — do not keep resetting a code that returns at once — A code that comes straight back is live, and resetting round it removes the evidence a technician needs.
Before a panel comes off
Safety
Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before any panel comes off — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never run it with the filter out or the air paths blocked, because lint is combustible. On a gas model, if you smell gas, leave the building and call the gas utility from outside without switching anything on or off.
Where an owner check ends
Call straight away if you smell hot plastic, see scorching at a connector, or the appliance behaves unpredictably rather than simply stopping.
Other codes on a Bosch dryer
What is deliberately not here
Treat this as the general Bosch dryer reading. It stops short of anything model-specific — part numbers, harness colours, connector layouts and service-mode entry — because those differ by family and a technician takes them from the rating plate rather than from a code. A family- or model-specific page, where one exists, is linked from the code index below and is the closer answer.
