The short answer
On a freestanding Bodega Cooler, frost is nearly always humid air getting in - through a door opened often, or a seal that no longer closes. Drinks freezing solid is a setting problem, worst for whatever is touching the rear wall. Neither is a sealed-system fault.
What you observe
- Frost building on the rear interior wall — Moisture from room air freezing on the coldest surface.

Causes, most likely first on this brand
- Humid air entering through frequent door openings — First on a tall glass-door cabinet. A big interior volume means a big air exchange every time the door swings, and in a bar or a kitchen that happens constantly.
- A door seal that no longer closes fully — Second. Glass doors are heavy and the hinge settles, so the door hangs a fraction proud at one end and lets in a continuous ribbon of moist air.
- A thermostat set colder than the contents need — Third. Cabinets are often left on the coldest mark, which is fine for cans in the middle and freezes glass against the back.
- Contents pressed against the rear wall — Fourth. Anything touching the cold plate freezes first, however moderate the setting.
- A thermostat or sensor reading wrongly — Last. Real, but the causes above explain the overwhelming majority of frost complaints here.

- Move the setting one step warmer and wait a day — The cheapest test, and often the whole answer.
- Look at what is touching the rear wall — Contact freezing is not a fault and needs no repair.
- Clear the frost and time how fast it returns — Days means air is entering; weeks is ordinary service.

Unplug the cooler before defrosting or removing any panel - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never chip frost from the rear wall with a knife or screwdriver: the cold plate punctures easily and the sealed system cannot be repaired at home. Empty a tall cabinet before tilting or moving it, because a loaded glass-door unit is top-heavy.
When to call a technician
Call when the door seals and self-closes, the setting has been raised, nothing touches the rear wall, and frost still rebuilds within days. That points at a sensor or control rather than at use. Call as well if drinks freeze at the warmest available setting, because a control that no longer regulates will not improve with better habits.
