The short answer
On a Bodega dual-zone cabinet the usual leak is condensate that missed its drain - a blocked channel inside, or a tray at the back that has filled faster than it can evaporate. Water on the glass is condensation by design rather than a fault. There is no water supply to leak.
What you observe
- Water pooling in the bottom of a zone — The drain channel is blocked and the condensate cannot leave.
- A puddle on the floor behind the cabinet — The tray above the compressor has filled or been knocked askew.
- Water running down the inside of the glass — Condensation - expected on a humid cabinet, not a leak.
- Much more water in summer than in winter — Humidity, which drives everything on this page.
- NEAR MISS - damp air and a slightly misted pane — A wine cabinet is meant to be humid. That is the design.
Causes, most likely first on this brand
- A blocked drain channel or drain hole — First. The channel at the base of the cold surface silts with dust and label debris, and the condensate then collects inside the cabinet rather than leaving it.
- A condensate tray that cannot keep up — Second, and worse on this family because a wine cabinet deliberately holds moisture. In a humid room it makes water faster than the tray can evaporate it.
- A door that does not seal or self-close — Third, and the multiplier behind both. More humid air in means more condensate than the drain was designed to carry.
- A cabinet that is not level — Fourth. Leaning forward, the condensate runs to the front of the zone and out under the door instead of to the channel.
- A cracked or displaced tray — Last, usually after the cabinet has been moved. It drips continuously with a dry interior above.
Check in this order, and why
- Decide whether the water is inside a zone or behind the cabinet — Inside means the drain channel; behind means the tray.
- Find the drain hole at the base of the cold surface — Dust, label paper or ice in it is the answer.
- Check both doors seal and self-close — Either door alone can feed the whole problem.
- Look at the tray above the compressor — Full, cracked or knocked askew are all visible.

- Dry the interior and the floor, then watch a day — How fast the water returns separates a slow overflow from a real blockage.

Safety
Unplug the cabinet before moving it or reaching behind it - a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, and water beside a live appliance deserves respect. Never clear a drain hole with wire; the cold surface behind it punctures easily and that ends the appliance. Empty the racks before moving a tall cabinet, because loaded with bottles it is heavy, top-heavy and fronted with glass.
When to call a technician
Call when the drain is clear, the cabinet is level, both doors seal and water still collects. That means the drain path behind the rear panel or a tray that cannot be reached, and neither is owner work. Call sooner if the floor under the cabinet is staining or lifting, because a slow leak under a heavy unit damages flooring long before anyone notices it.
