The short answer for these models
Nothing happening at start is usually a permission fault rather than a broken part. The machine will not run until it is satisfied about power, about the lid or door, and about water arriving, and it says nothing about which of the three it is waiting for. Check them in that order and the answer falls out. On the MFC washers the brand-level answer holds and the order does not: a twin-tub keeps its wash and spin functions on separate motors and separate timers, so half the machine can fail while the other half works perfectly and hides it, so the function-by-function checks come before the rest on these models.
What you actually see
- How your MFC unit is built — the check that comes before the list — Count the baskets. Two means wash and spin are independent and one can fail alone; one means a single fault stops everything.
- Nothing at all — no lights, no sound, no response — No light, no beep, no click — the machine is not awake, and nothing past the supply matters yet.
- It starts and then stalls before water arrives — A stall at the very beginning is nearly always a water-supply story rather than an electrical one.
- NEAR MISS — it runs but nothing drains at the end — That is a drainage fault. The machine started perfectly; it is the pump-out that failed.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Water is not arriving — It sits here because it is common, entirely checkable from outside the machine, and easily mistaken for an electrical fault. On a MFC unit this rises to the top of the order, because the identification step above changes what it proves — so the function-by-function checks answer more in five minutes than the rest of the list answers in an hour.
- The timer, the control board or the motor — Last because it is the diagnosis of exclusion and because confirming it means a meter on terminals behind a panel.
Check in this order, and why
- First — prove the socket is live — Washers are often on their own circuit, so the rest of the room working tells you nothing. Check the breaker that feeds this machine rather than the room. On these models this is the step the construction changes: read the result against the form you identified first, because the same finding means different things on the two.
- Second — close the lid or door slowly and listen for the latch — A clean click means the interlock is making. If the machine only runs while you press, the latch is the fault.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Leave the lid switch and the door lock exactly as they are: those interlocks stop a loaded drum while your hands are in it, and a spinning tub does not stop because you changed your mind. Keep the plug and the socket dry.
Where the owner job ends
Book a visit once the socket, the breaker, the door or lid, the taps and the drain have all been checked and the machine still will not begin. Book at once if the breaker trips when the machine is plugged in, and do not keep resetting it.
