The short answer for these models
The water is nearly always condensate that has lost its way. A clogged drain hole, a cracked or displaced tray, or humid air condensing on a door that does not seal will all put water where you are finding it. Check the path before suspecting a pipe. What changes on the ZPJ models is the sequence rather than the diagnosis. A fan-cooled cabinet loses its cold to a blocked vent long before it loses it to a failing part, while a plate-cooled one loses it to frost thickness and to the door, which is why the airflow and frost checks belong at the top of the list here.
What you observe
- Before the list: which of the ZPJ forms is in front of you — One look at the rear wall settles it: a grille means the cold is delivered and can be blocked, a bare plate means the cold is the surface and cannot.
- Condensation running down the inside walls — Beads and runs down the inside walls, which is air getting in rather than water failing to get out.
- Water only after a defrost or a power cut — It appeared once after the power was off for a while and has not come back, which is an event and not a fault.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- The cabinet is not level, or the drain channel is not sloping — Water only runs where gravity sends it. A cabinet tipped forward sends melt over the sill instead of down the channel. The ranking moves here for a reason particular to these models: how the unit is built changes what this finding means. That is what puts the airflow and frost checks ahead of everything else on the list.
- The supply line, the fill valve or an internal joint — Last, and only on plumbed units: a genuine water-supply leak is rare and it is continuous rather than cyclical.
What to check first, and why that order
- First — find the drain hole and test it — Find the hole at the lowest point inside and pour a little warm water into it. Water that stands there rather than vanishing has answered the question.
- Second — shut the door on a strip of paper — The paper test takes a minute and it separates a condensation problem from a drainage one. On these models this is the step the construction changes: what you found at the step above decides how much weight to give what you find here.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Clear a frozen drain with warm water only: a wire or a screwdriver pushed into a drain hole reaches tubing that punctures. Mop as you go, because a wet floor in front of a heavy cabinet is how people get hurt moving it.
Where the owner job ends
The owner half of this ends at the drain and the connections. Anything that needs a panel off, or that turns out to be the evaporator tray or the valve, is a visit. Say where the water first appears and when — during a cycle, after a defrost, or all the time — because that decides where the technician starts.
