The short answer for these models
Work out whether the water is inside the cabinet or under it before anything else, because the two have different causes and different fixes. Inside is the drain; underneath is the tray, the levelling or, rarely, a supply line. Where this departs from the brand-level page is the ranking. A glazed door leaks far more heat than a solid one by design, so the same fault reads as more severe on a glass-door unit and the baseline you are judging against has to change with it, so on a URBCD unit the door and glazing checks lead.
What you actually see
- The URBCD form you own, which changes what the rest of this list means — Check the door material. Glass changes the baseline: longer runs, some sweating and a warm shelf by the door are normal there.
- A puddle on the floor at the front — Water that has run forward over the door sill, usually from an overfilled channel or an overflowing tray.
- A puddle at the back or under the middle — Water at the back or in the middle underneath, which is the tray over the compressor nine times out of ten.
- NEAR MISS — the water is clean, cold and only appears near the ice compartment — That is an ice or fill-path fault rather than a drainage one, and the ice page covers it properly.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- A door seal letting warm humid air in — At this rank because a cabinet that condenses continuously makes more water than its drain was ever designed to carry. This is where the order departs from the brand-level page: on the URBCD models the construction settles it, so the door and glazing checks come before the checks that lead anywhere else.
- The supply line, the fill valve or an internal joint — Last because a genuine supply leak is rare, continuous rather than cyclical, and obvious the moment you look behind the cabinet.
The order the checks belong in
- First — find the drain hole and test it — Water that sits in the hole rather than disappearing has told you the answer in one check.
- Second — check the cabinet is level and tipped very slightly back — A unit tipped forward will send its melt water over the sill no matter how clear the drain is. On these models this is the step the construction changes: the answer only tells you something once you know which form the unit is.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Clear a frozen drain with warm water only: a wire or a screwdriver pushed into a drain hole reaches tubing that punctures. Mop as you go, because a wet floor in front of a heavy cabinet is how people get hurt moving it.
Where the owner job ends
The owner half of this ends at the drain and the connections. Anything that needs a panel off, or that turns out to be the evaporator tray or the valve, is a visit. Say where the water first appears and when — during a cycle, after a defrost, or all the time — because that decides where the technician starts.
