What is actually going on
On the WQP line poor cleaning is a flow problem and on the models listed in the table on this page the whole flow path — filter column, lower arm, riser, upper arm — is reachable by hand. That is why this fault stays on the owner side of the line on this platform.
The symptoms, and their near misses
- Baked-on food survives every programme — Programme choice and inlet temperature both show up here before any fault does.
- The top rack is dirty and the bottom rack is clean — A clean lower rack proves the pump. The fault is above it. On the models listed in the table on this page this is the check that decides the job.
- The detergent tablet is still in the dispenser at the end — An undissolved tablet means the dispenser did not open or the water never reached it.
- The spray arms do not turn freely — Spin each one by hand: resistance means debris at the bearing or an item catching it.
- The load comes out wet as well as dirty — Poor cleaning and poor drying together often point at a cold fill or a heating fault rather than at the wash path.
- NEAR MISS — the tub is dry and the load untouched — That is a fill fault, not a cleaning fault. The machine never got water.
- NEAR MISS — only plastics come out wet — Plastics hold no heat and dry badly in every dishwasher. It is normal rather than a fault.
Causes in likelihood order
- Tablets on a programme too short to dissolve them — The one to check first. A tablet released late in a short programme spends most of the wash undissolved. On the WQP line this is the part that is reachable first.
- Poor loading — Next most likely. Overlapping plates, bowls facing the wrong way and tall items blocking the upper riser all defeat a working machine.
- A lower arm bearing full of grit — Next after those two. The arm turns slowly rather than not at all, so half the tub gets a weaker sweep than it should. That much is common to the whole WQP line.
- Cutlery packed too tightly in its basket — Fourth in the ranking. It is a loading fault with a very specific symptom: dirty cutlery, clean plates.
- Old, damp or wrong detergent — Fifth. Tablets absorb moisture and lose effectiveness, and a dispenser flap blocked by a pan means none of it reaches the wash.
Working through it in order
- Run an empty hot cycle with a cleaner — An empty maintenance wash is both a cure and a test.
- Spin each arm and count how freely it turns — An arm that turns but slows against the bearing is a partial fault and it produces patchy cleaning. On the models listed in the table on this page the access for this is the same across the line.
- Reload deliberately and re-run — Nothing overlapping, nothing over the dispenser, nothing blocking the upper riser. If the result improves, loading was the cause.
- Match the detergent to the programme — One changed variable per cycle, and write the result down.

Power off, water off, and let a hot cycle cool before opening the door fully. The tub, the racks and the standing water all hold heat for a long time after the programme ends.
