The short answer
One leak on a Beko WMY is worth recognising immediately because it is not really a leak: if the machine keeps filling past the level it needs, water eventually reaches the door and comes out of the front. Nothing has split and no seal has torn - the machine has lost track of how much water is in it.
What you observe
- The drum fills far higher than usual and then leaks at the door — Overfilling: the level sensing has lost its reference.
- Water at the front during the wash, without foam — The door boot, usually torn at its lowest point.
- Foam and water at the front during the fill — The detergent drawer overflowing.
- Water under the middle after a cycle — The pump filter cap, the pump housing or the sump hose.
- NEAR MISS - the drum stays full and will not empty — That is drainage; the drainage page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Overfilling from a blocked or detached pressure hose — First whenever the water level itself looks wrong, and it needs switching off rather than a seal.
- Torn or perished door boot — Second, and the leading mechanical leak on any front-loader.
- Detergent drawer overflowing — Third, from over-dosing or a siphon blocked with residue.
- Pump filter cap not seated — Fourth, and very common right after the filter was cleaned.
- Supply hose connection weeping — Last, and the only leak that runs with the machine switched off.
Check in this order, and why
- Look at the water level through the glass during a fill — First, because an overfill is obvious once you are watching and it changes what you do next.
- Switch off and close the taps if the level looks wrong — Second. An overfilling machine should not be left to run.
- Open the door boot at its lowest fold and inspect it — Third. Grit, coins and a tear are visible without tools.
- Check the filter cap is seated and its seal clean — Fourth, especially if the filter was recently opened.

Safety
Unplug the machine before removing any panel, and close both taps before disturbing a hose. Mop before working: water and a live appliance on a hard floor is a shock risk. A machine that overfills should be switched off at the socket and left with its taps closed until it is repaired.

When to call a technician
Call for any machine that overfills, because the pressure system sits inside the cabinet and an overfilling washer will keep putting water on the floor. Call also once the boot, drawer, filter cap and hoses are proven sound, and immediately if water reaches the electrical area at the base.
